Here is, in detail, what changed in each version of WingLog. The latest version is 1.6.5, and you can download it on the home page. Your version number is shown in the app: Settings → About.
1.6.5
Latest20 October 2026 · build 50
The main thing in this version is import: you can bring your whole flight history into the logbook at once, from XContest or from any IGC, GPX and FIT files.
Added
Batch import: several tracks, a ZIP archive, an XContest export. Before, every track opened its own flight form — a hundred flights meant a hundred forms. Now several tracks, a ZIP archive or an XContest export open a single screen: how many were found, what is already in the logbook, what to call the new places and which gliders to choose. Launches within 500 m count as one place, and places from the logbook are matched by coordinates. From the XContest export (“My flights” → “Export: JSON”) the app takes place names, the date in local time, the comment and the link to the flight; the “Download: IGC” archive works without it too. XC scores are calculated in the background. A single track still opens the familiar flight form.
The “Import” sheet and instructions for XContest. The import icon in the logbook and the item in Settings open a choice: files, or a short guide to downloading your history from XContest. The app does not need your password — you sign in only on the XContest website, in the browser.
A map for naming a place. Every new place has a “View on map” button: a satellite view with a pin on the launch and the other places of the batch. You can type the name right from the map.
GPX and FIT import. A track from a watch, a sports app or a smartphone is imported the same way as IGC: as a single file, in a batch, inside an archive, via “Share” and “Open with”. The format is detected by the content. The file is re-saved as IGC (the original is not kept), so the 3D player, XC scores, sync and backup work with it without any difference. Such files usually have no barometer — the altitude is “by GPS”, and the summary says so.
Flight hours by glider. The “Season” card in Statistics now shows bars split by colour per glider. Period — 3 months, a year, 3 years or all time; bars — days, weeks, months or years. Tapping a bar shows the hours of each glider, and under the chart there is a legend with the hours for the period.
Flights without a place find one on their own. A flight with a track and no place is attached to the nearest place with coordinates within 500 m of the launch — when the place is created, after import, sync and restoring a backup. Flights where you removed the place by hand are left alone.
The screen stays on during playback. While “Flight analysis” is playing, the screen stays on — on Android, Windows and Mac.
Adaptive icon on Android. Foreground and background are separate: the icon is no longer a white square in round and teardrop launchers, and on Android 13 and newer there is a monochrome layer for themed icons.
Changed
PDF export with Cyrillic on all platforms. The font is now inside the app: before, Russian text in the PDF might not appear on Mac. The table layout is fixed too — the date and the number no longer wrap to a second line.
The track file is stored byte for byte. Before, a track went through a string, and unusual characters of the header (for example, a pilot's name in cp1251) were replaced on import, backup and sync. Now the file on disk and on the second device is the same one that arrived, and the signature (G record) is not broken.
The same flight is recognised more reliably. By the file content and by the start time with a one-minute tolerance — a repeated import does not create a duplicate.
Fixed
A track opened from XCTrack (“Open in…”) no longer ends with an error. The file arrived with an address that the app took for a screen, and a “Page Not Found” page opened under the import form. Now the list of flights opens after saving.
1.6.4
10 October 2026 · build 43
You can now share a flight and your season totals as a story picture: the numbers sit over your photo and there is room left in the frame for your own text.
Added
Flight card for stories. A “Story card” button appeared in the flight card: the app builds a vertical 1080×1920 picture over a photo. It shows the spot, date and airtime, the route type with an icon, the scored distance, the track line with the route, the maximum altitude, and the maximum climb and sink. The background is a photo from that flight, any picture from your device or one of seven built-in images; you can drag and zoom the photo. There are two layouts: “Compact” — numbers at the bottom, the top of the frame is free for your text, and “Column” — numbers in a column on the left. You can save the finished picture or send it straight to a social network. The card also works for a flight without a track — with the distance from the record or the airtime.
Changed
“Year in review” — a new look. The same vertical picture over a photo: the year, the season's flights, hours and kilometres and its achievements — the longest flight, the best route, the maximum altitude, your favourite spot, the glider with the most hours and the number of flying days. You can set a photo from any flight of that year as the background. You can now not only save the picture but send it right away.
A new contact address in the app's privacy policy: the email info@winglog.ru and direct messages to the @winglog_app channel.
Fixed
Mac: updating from the app. The “Update” button could get stuck on “Installing…” and fail to close the app. If you have version 1.6.3 or earlier and the update did not install by itself, download the archive from the site and replace the app by hand — later updates should install from the app.
1.6.3

“Flight analysis” gets a cinematic camera that changes angles by itself, like in a film. The light on the 3D scene is more expressive, the terrain is more accurate, and the imagery in many countries is fresher and more detailed.
Added
Mac version. WingLog can now be installed on Apple computers — both Intel and Apple Silicon, macOS 12 and newer. How to install is in the Download section of the home page. Later updates install from within the app with the “Update” button. The version is new and has been tested less than the others.
Cinematic camera in 3D. A button on the scene: the camera follows the pilot by itself and changes angle every 8–11 seconds — wide shot, chase, fly-by, orbit, from the front, from above, from the side. Transitions between angles are smooth. Every angle is checked against the terrain beforehand: the camera doesn't go under a slope and a slope doesn't hide the pilot. In a spiral, only angles that don't circle with the pilot are used; at high playback speed, only calm ones. Any gesture on the scene hands control back to you from the same angle.
Imagery from national aerial surveys. Where a country has open aerial imagery, the 3D scene and the Satellite and Hybrid layers use it: Switzerland and Liechtenstein, France, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, South Tyrol, Veneto and Lombardy, Slovenia, Czechia, Poland, Japan, the USA and the province of Ontario. Elsewhere in the world the imagery is as before. The source credit under the map changes with the location.
Route line in 3D during playback. A pale line from the pilot to the landing shows where they will fly next; only the coloured tail is left behind.
“Thermal wall” and “Route line” switches. The wall under the tail and the route line can be turned off.
Changed
Light on the 3D scene — like in a film. The sun sits lower, shadows on slopes are deeper and longer, the light is warm and the shadow cool. The terrain reads noticeably better, and the imagery on sunlit slopes no longer washes out.
More accurate terrain heights. Heights now come from the Mapterhorn dataset: 30 metre spacing worldwide, and in the Alps, Germany, Austria, Spain and several other countries — from laser surveys accurate to a metre. In northern Russia the heights became more accurate: before, on the Kola Peninsula for example, the ground was overstated by about 18 metres, and both the “Above ground” readout and how the track sits on the terrain depend on that.
Turn the phone on its side and the player goes full screen by itself, turn it back and it returns. The “Fullscreen” button works as before.
In fullscreen the altitude-chart strip hides too — just like the control panel: after 4 seconds without touches, and it comes back with the button at the bottom edge. While your finger is on the chart, the strip stays.
Tail length: off, 30 seconds, 1 minute and then by the minute up to 15. The tail and the thermal wall now reach the pilot on every frame instead of growing in chunks.
The halo around the pilot appears only from afar — from a kilometre and a half to two.
Removed
The “Terrain” switch. Terrain on the 3D scene is always shown; the flat grid remains only where terrain can't be obtained — no internet and no saved data.
The grey projection of the track on the ground over the terrain — it got in the way of seeing the terrain itself.
1.6.2
7 October 2026 · build 30
“Flight analysis” in 3D looks new: detailed terrain with true proportions, light, haze and sky, a new paraglider pilot model and smooth motion.
Changed
Detailed terrain in 3D. Before, the whole area under the track was drawn as one mesh with one image for everyone. Now the terrain is built around the point the camera looks at: near the pilot — heights at 20 metre spacing and imagery with about a metre of detail, then coarser further out, all the way to the horizon. The terrain loads in after the pilot, first the coarse one, then the detailed one.
True proportions. Before, the scene was always stretched vertically (up to six times), and the mountains stretched with the track — slopes looked steeper than they are. Now there is no stretching over terrain: height and distance are on one scale. Stretching remains only over the flat grid — when “Terrain” is off or there is no internet.
Light, haze and sky. Slopes are lit by the sun, distant mountains fade into haze, and there is sky above the horizon. The pilot casts a shadow on the slope.
New paraglider pilot model. Wing, lines and a pilot in a harness — at true size (wingspan about 9 metres), the model banks in a turn. The camera gets within 12 metres of the pilot instead of 30, and up close the model is more detailed. From far away it still doesn't turn into a dot.
Smooth motion. Playback is in step with the screen, and the pilot flies along a smoothed path — without jerks from point to point and jumps in heading.
The wing icon on the 2D map — the same new model, seen from above.
The 3D scene runs faster, especially on phones: only what falls in the frame is drawn, and the buttons over the scene no longer blur the background — that noticeably slowed the picture.
Terrain loads more economically. Detailed imagery is requested only when the camera gets close enough: an overview of a long route needs several times less data than before.
The source credit for imagery and heights now also appears on the 3D scene, like on the other maps.
Fixed
Spirals in 3D on long routes. A long track was simplified for display more than needed: spirals in thermals turned into polygons and the pilot moved in jerks. Now as much detail is kept as the scene can show.
Tracks with points without GPS. Some devices write points with zero coordinates into the track during the first minute, before they have a satellite signal. Before, such a track “flew away” to the Gulf of Guinea and got a distance of thousands of kilometres; now those points are skipped. A track already loaded with this problem needs to be imported again.

WingLog from the website now updates itself, and sync no longer deletes records without your consent. This version still has to be downloaded and installed by hand — the app will offer to install the next ones itself.
Added
Updating right from the app (website version, Android and Windows). An “Update” button appeared in Settings → Updates: the app downloads the new version from winglog.ru itself, checks that the file is genuine and installs it. On Android you need to allow WingLog to install updates once, and after the installation the app closes — just open it again. On Windows it closes and opens already updated. The “Download from the website” button stays in case something goes wrong.
Fixed
Protection against accidental deletions during sync. Before, a record deleted on one device was silently deleted on the second one at sync. Now a “Deleted records” list opens before the transfer: tick what you really want to delete (there is “Select all”) — everything else returns to the device where it was deleted, and a flight comes back along with its track and photos. For the protection to work both ways, update WingLog on both devices.
Changed
Update check — on the first launch of the day, and if the site didn't answer, the app tries again a little later.
The privacy policy has been updated: it describes how the app installs updates and what anonymous information it sends when checking for updates — no device identifier and none of your data. Read the full text: Privacy policy.

“Flight analysis” is a completely redone track breakdown with 3D and 2D views, an altitude chart and readouts, plus a countdown to service and reserve repack.
Added
“Flight analysis” instead of “Track in 3D” and “Track on map”. One screen: a canvas with a 3D | 2D switch on top, a readout line and the altitude chart under it, and the controls below. The chosen view is remembered.
Switching between 3D and 2D right during playback. The flight doesn't stop: the time and the pilot's position stay put, only the point of view changes.
2D view — the track on a real map. The same layers as on the other maps (the “Map layers” button), north always up. The track line is coloured by vario or by altitude, the scored XC route and “Max.” are drawn dashed, takeoff and landing are marked with pins, and the pilot is shown as a wing from above, turned to their heading. There are “To pilot” (the map keeps the pilot centred until you move it) and “Whole track” buttons. A tap on the track line puts the marker at that moment, and the pilot marker can be dragged along with a finger.
Track tail in 2D. During playback a fading tail of the set length stays coloured, and the rest of the route is a thin pale line.
Altitude chart, like on XContest. Altitude over time, the line coloured like the track, and under it the ground as a grey area (the terrain under the track). The marker on the chart is also the scrubber: a tap or drag moves the pilot on the canvas, and the other way round. The separate position slider is gone.
Readout line above the chart: time, altitude, vario, speed and height above ground at the marker. Without internet there is no ground under the chart and no “Above ground” readout.
Layout for a wide window (Windows, tablet): the canvas and the chart on the left, a permanent control panel and flight summary on the right.
The pilot is always visible in 3D. There is a light halo around the model so it doesn't blend into the thermal-wall layers; it fades as the camera gets closer. The pilot model always takes up at least a certain size on screen, so on a long route, zoomed far out, it doesn't turn into a dot.
“Whole track” button in 3D — the camera returns to the centre of the scene with the initial angle and stops following the pilot (the same as a double tap on the scene).
Countdown to service and reserve repack. On the gear tile a ring shows how many days are left (months, if the deadline is 100 days or more away). Colour: green — all fine, amber — 30 days or less, red — overdue (the number gets a minus sign). Next to it is a line like “Repack in 23 days” and the due date.
A hint in the gear form. Under the last service date and the interval you can see at once what you will get: for example “Repack in 23 days” and the due date. The hint changes as you type the interval.
Changed
Scrubbing the chart doesn't pause playback. If the track is playing, it keeps playing from the place where you put the marker (while your finger is on the chart, the time stands still so the marker doesn't run away from under your finger). If it is paused, it stays paused. A tap on the track line on the map works the same way.
The player controls became more compact. In portrait everything is in view in the bottom sheet: play and time, speed (a ×1…×40 list), colouring, “XC”, “Max.”, tail length, “Terrain”. In fullscreen it's the same panel sliding in from the right as before (it hides itself after 4 seconds), but only over the height of the canvas: it doesn't cover the readouts and the chart under it. The gesture hint under the controls is gone.
In the flight card's “Track” menu there is one item, “Flight analysis” instead of “Show in 3D” and “Show on map”.
The “Play” button at the end of the track starts over (before, it did nothing), and resuming after a pause continues from the same moment (before, it jumped to the start of the segment).
A phone turned on its side without fullscreen mode shows the same layout as “fullscreen” — before, the controls didn't fit there.
Equipment with “Active” switched off doesn't remind about service. No ring and no red frame on the tile, it doesn't count in the dot on the “Settings” tab or in the “Needs attention” counter. The dates are saved, so after you switch “Active” back on, the countdown returns by itself.
The “Service soon” and “Service overdue” badges are removed — the ring replaced them. The “inactive” badge stays.
The remaining days are counted in calendar days, not hours, so they don't “drift” when the clocks change.

XC points and track parameters — by XContest rules. You can check the numbers in the flight card against the flight page on XContest: on the real flights we checked they matched to the hundredth.
Added
XC points. For each track, the route type that gives more points is chosen — by the official XContest rules: free distance — 1.0 point per kilometre, flat triangle — 1.2, FAI triangle — 1.4. A closed triangle (the distance between start and finish is less than 5% of the perimeter) gets another +0.2: closed flat — 1.4, closed FAI — 1.6.
Free distance is calculated more precisely. Start, up to three turn points and finish — any points of the track. Before, the start and finish were rigidly the first and the last point, and the pilot lost from 1% to 9% of distance.
Track parameters — like XContest (flight card, the “Track” block):
maximum altitude, takeoff and landing altitudes — by GPS (before, by barometer, which without a pressure correction understates by 60–100 m);
maximum climb and sink — averaged over 30 seconds (before, over 3 seconds, and on a noisy barometer it came out to 17 and −18 m/s);
new “Max. altitude gain” line — maximum altitude minus takeoff altitude;
new “Free distance, 0 TP” line — the greatest distance between two points of the track; the former “Route distance” became “Free distance, 3 TP”;
track length is calculated from coordinates at full precision, as in XContest;
a long (a minute or more) standstill on the ground at the start and end of the recording is not counted — time, length, altitudes and vario are calculated for the flight itself.
Route type icon in the flight list instead of the general “has a track” icon: a blue triangle — FAI, a green narrow wedge — flat triangle, an amber zigzag — free distance. A closed triangle (with the closing bonus) is filled more densely than an open one.
In “Statistics” and “Records”: “Best XC flight” — by points, not by kilometres.
In the 3D player the “FAI” switch is renamed “XC” and draws the scored route — for a triangle it's a closed outline with marked vertices. The caption looks like this: “XC 107.5 pts · FAI tri. 67.2 km”.
Changed
Already saved tracks are recalculated by themselves in the background after the update. Your flight records (date, duration, distance, spot) don't change — that's your data.
Importing a track no longer freezes the interface on long tracks: the summary is calculated in the background.
A track's takeoff and landing time are the boundaries of the flying section, not of the first and last point of the file.

Update checks for those who downloaded the app from the website, and a fix for an error that could keep the logbook from opening.
Added
Update check (for the website version — APK and the Windows installer). At launch, no more than once a day, the app learns the number of the latest version from the site. If a new one is out, a prominent “Version X.Y.Z available” item appears in Settings, and a dot on the Settings tab. Tapping opens a sheet: what's new, a “Download” button (opens the download page on the site), “Skip this version”, “Check now” and a “Check automatically” switch.
The app downloads and installs nothing by itself, and the request carries no device identifier and none of your data. No internet — nothing is shown. In the app-store version (for example, RuStore) there is no such check: updates come through the store.
Fixed
The logbook could stop opening altogether (with the message “Could not read the data”) if the app was closed or the system stopped it in the middle of the very first launch after an update. Now an interrupted data update is simply finished at the next launch. Such a logbook opens by itself, the data is intact.
Changed
Privacy policy has been extended with a section on update checks. In Settings → About, the paragraph about the internet was fixed: it had long been out of date (maps, terrain for 3D, weather).
1.4.1
1 October 2026 · build 20
The first release distributed from this site.
Changed
Camera control in the 3D track view. Two-finger panning just moves the picture across the screen — exactly as far as you dragged it, at any zoom and camera tilt. Before, the picture moved a different distance than your fingers (most noticeable at a shallow angle and vertically).
Pinch zooms around the midpoint between the fingers, the mouse wheel — around the cursor. On Windows the picture can be panned with the right or middle mouse button.
The “Pilot” switch is gone from the controls. The camera moves to the pilot by itself when playback starts and puts them back in the centre of the screen, without changing the angle and zoom. A double tap still returns the original view of the whole track, and the “To pilot” button brings the camera right up to the pilot.
Fixed
In the summary line of the 3D view the figures no longer run together (“58 minmax. 2417 m”).
Privacy policy has been brought in line with what the app actually does: LAN sync, Android permissions and the source of terrain heights for 3D are described; a contact is given.

A new name — WingLog, map layers, weather with a choice of model and a fullscreen 3D track view.
Added
Map layers. The “Layers” button in the corner of every map (“Spots”, “Track on map”, spot point picker) opens a sheet with thumbnails: “Map” (OpenStreetMap), “Satellite” (Esri), “Terrain” (OpenTopoMap: contour lines and slope shading) and “Hybrid” (Esri imagery with roads and labels). One choice for all maps, and it is remembered; “Terrain” everywhere by default.
Weather: a forecast model switch above the Windy map — ECMWF, GFS, ICON, ICON-EU. The choice is remembered between launches.
Weather: the coordinates badge shows six decimal places, a tap on it copies the coordinates to the clipboard, and the “Share” icon on the right opens the system app picker (spot name, coordinates and a map link).
A “three dots” menu for every spot in the spot list: “Show on map”, “Weather”, “Edit”, “Delete”, with the same “hours at this spot” header as the menu on a map point.
The “Spots” map gathers nearby spots into a circle with a number — a tap spreads them out.
Fullscreen 3D track view. The button expands the scene to the full screen, turns it to landscape and hides Android's system bars. The controls move to a panel on the right, which hides itself after a few seconds, and a tap on the scene itself starts and pauses playback.
Changed
The app is now called WingLog (it was “Flight Logbook”). A new icon and a new palette: a rich blue gradient instead of the former muted blue-green, and the dark theme is a real night sky. The update installs over the old installation, no reinstall is needed.
The 3D view has a new paraglider model with a pilot: wing, lines, pod, helmet.
Maps open on the “Terrain” layer (before, the OpenStreetMap map). Each layer has its own source credit, at the bottom left.
The Windy map opens with wind in m/s (before, in knots) and temperature in °C. The bottom link “Open windy.com in browser” no longer hides under the navigation bar.
The map icon in “Statistics” leads to the “Spots” map.
The menu on a map point is called “Weather” and “Edit”. A tap on a spot tile in the list opens the same action menu as the “three dots” (before, it opened editing straight away).
Fixed
The zoom of flat maps was not limited: you could zoom in and out endlessly, down to grey squares. Now you can zoom in only to the scale where the chosen layer has real data and zoom out no further than the edges of the world, and when you change layer the camera returns to the allowed range by itself.
Removed
The separate “Flight map” in “Statistics” — it duplicated the “Spots” map.

Windy weather for a spot. A tap on a point on the “Spots” map opens a menu (“Edit spot” / “View weather”). The second item opens the Windy map for the coordinates of that spot: on Android right inside the app, on Windows with a button that opens windy.com in the browser.

The privacy policy was extended with a section on Windy: coordinates are sent there only on your explicit tap.

The main update of the 3D flight breakdown: satellite instead of a road map, smooth playback, a real 3D paraglider model and a thermal wall.
Added
Satellite terrain base (Esri World Imagery) instead of the road map.
A denser terrain mesh — steep slopes and ridges read sharper.
The track line is smoothed when drawn, so the picture is smoother (the track data itself and statistics don't change).
Smooth movement of the pilot icon between GPS track points instead of jumps.
Fading track tail during playback: while the animation runs, only the recent part of the path is visible, and when paused — the whole route. The tail length is set in the player, from 30 seconds to 30 minutes.
Thermal wall — a semi-transparent coloured ribbon along the track showing vertical speed (thermals and sink) brighter than just the colour of the line.
A real 3D paraglider model (canopy and pilot), turned to the heading of the flight, instead of a flat picture.
Changed
The “Vertical” slider (height exaggeration) is removed from the player: height is chosen automatically from the shape of each track.

Windows version — the same functionality as on the phone.
Local network sync between Android and Windows. Devices find each other on the network (or you can enter the address by hand) and pair with a one-time PIN code. On a data conflict the app asks which version to keep instead of choosing silently. It is started manually: Settings → Sync. Data goes directly between your devices.
Receiving sync in the background on Android — a separate “Sync in background” switch. While it is on (a permanent notification is in the shade), the receiving phone doesn't need to be unlocked or to keep this screen open. On Windows sync is available while the app is running.

Flight Logbook: a list grouped by month, a filter by year and month, and a separate “Filter” sheet (equipment, spot, launch type, distance).
Flight card and form for adding and editing: data is filled in from the last flight, and the app tells you about a personal record.
Equipment — a single directory of wings, harnesses and reserves with service reminders.
Spots — a list and a map, including picking the spot's point on the map by hand.
Tracks: reading IGC files, import through “Share” from XCTrack, a 3D track view, showing the track on a map, export to KML and GPX.
Statistics: summary, records, breakdowns by year, wing and spot, a chart of hours by month and “Year in review” saved as a picture.
Backup to ZIP (replace or merge), logbook export to CSV and PDF with a choice of period.
Flight photos.
Russian and English languages.
